Question: Discuss about the Personal Development Rview. Answer: Introduction Personal development is a process that an individual in a career aspires. On my perspective, I aimed to develop my own time management skills and also the communication skills. These two skills were paramount in my enhancement in the leadership skills and also the management skills. As such, I undertook various personal development activities to improve my own time management skills and the communication skills. The plan which I implemented included becoming the team leader of an innovative team thus it was very necessary to address the various issues which I saw can bring a grate change, to lead in the project schedule and motivate members through effective communication skills. This paper gives a detailed review of how I have developed the most important communication and time management skills. Review progress and outcomes of the personal development plan against the objectives set The implementation of my own personal development skills involved making most significant decisions such as allocation of the resources in most needy areas and dividing the tasks allocating them to different team members. Initially, due to the friendly behavior and close ties with some colleagues, some issues were raised. Some members felt that I was subjective and did not exercise fairness[1] to all members of the group. besides, I also noted that while dividing functions and works among various teams, I failed to account for the bulkiness of some various tasks I assigned to some members. However, my mentor indicated that when addressing each member in the team would not help resolve the conflict. I had to learn how to communicate and align the various groups and each individual goals. 3M1 Compare current personal leadership management strategies with the outcomes of the original audit During the implementation of the personal development plan, the two primary objectives were to be used improve communication skills and the team management skills. For the communication skills to be effective, the goal was to learn how to be eloquent among a large group of people. Rather than communicating with each person, which was my comfort zone, the goal was to address a large group of people and communicating effectively for them to understand everything. Besides, I had to enhance employee engagement[2]. Secondly, for time management, I had to improve on the performance by maintaining average speed in completing tasks on a personal and group level. As such, the review of my development was carried out by me, my mentor and the other team members. 3D1 Analyse areas for further development and update personal development plan On reviewing my progress on the personal development plan, I noticed that I had made a significant improvement in time management area, but communication skills were still lagging behind. I had to work hard so that I can see the improvement the communication skills which was my wish. I found that for the time management to improve, as the leader of the team, I had to call for a meeting of everybody and set deadlines on when each stage of the project should be completed. Therefore, I had to make sure that I arrived at the meeting on time which was very difficult to adhere. Though I started with often being late for the meeting, as the season progressed I began arriving on and before the scheduled time. Secondly, I improved on enhancing productivity by reducing the average time I required to complete routine tasks[3]. Also, as a leader of the group, I ensured that every project deadlines were met by regularly checking on the progress of each members responsibilities[4] to avoid latenes s. Though at first time the members found it difficult and they could not cooperate well, the team eventually learned that coordination helped to save mostly time and increase performance of the group. As such, my colleagues and the mentor gave positive remarks on my time management skills which i introduced to the groups. Conclusion For my communication skills, there was a significant gap between actual and desired results. First, as I am patient and friendlier, it became a challenge to establish the notion of leadership as everyone was equal[5]. It raised an issue as some group members did not respect the leadership position, thus if I needed to communicate something I did it in person. Secondly, due to the friendly relations developed in the group, communication regularly took place through the grapevine rather than formal channels[6]. As such, the remarks on my communication review noted that I had considerable room for improvement at once. I, therefore, developed a more precise plan with definite objectives. Rather than relying on informal channels to communicate, I should address the group as a whole. Besides, I will focus on playing a significant role in meetings to ensure that the leadership and every position is established through effective communication. Bibliography Amabile, Teresa, Colin M.
